Milkweed bug

5888   Can you identify this bug? It appears in our house occasionally. Can they bite?   We are in Prince Edward County, Ontario. Thank you, M. Berkson

This is a milkweed bug, an occasional invader in homes. They are very similar in appearance to boxelder bugs.  See the comparison here:  https://bedbugexperts.com/box-elder-bugs   Both are harmless in your home. They don’t bite, have no stingers and don’t carry disease.
